Cloudy and mild
Drizzly west

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 11th March 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cloudy and mild with rain or drizzle in the west

Good morning,

Get set for a very mild day today as southwest winds bring air across the UK and Ireland from the sub-tropical Atlantic. There will be lots of cloud around this morning with some periods of drizzle affecting western coasts and hills. Fog is likely too here with the most persistent of any rain in western Scotland. Little changes this afternoon with western areas of the UK and much of Irland staying cloudy, mild but damp.

Eastern parts of England and Scotland are likely to be drier overall. There will be some bright or sunny spells breaking through the cloud here and there in southeast England, but a tendency for cloud to thicken in northern and eastern England and Scotland bringing some drizzle here. During the mid afternoon skies may become brighter again in the east with some brightness to end the day.

Remaning cloudy overnight with outbreaks of rain to the north and west and staying mild too.
