A chilly start to Tuesday but, overall, it will be a much better day for many areas than compared with previous days

It's a chilly start to Tuesday with frost and some icy patches in places. Through the morning and, overall, no significant weather is expected with plenty of fine weather with some bright or sunny spells and variable cloud, the best of any sunshine in the west.

More eastern areas will tend to have more cloud and this could produce some sleety showers along eastern coasts of England, these pushing westwards into the Midlands but tending to fade away. The sun then returning to East Anglia and the southeast. Tending to become cloudier in the Midlands during the morning and this cloud edging into southwest England too.

Breezier conditions in Scotland with some cloud and rain in western Scotland as well as the north. The rain heavy in western Scotland.
