After a fairly quiet weekend, a change on the way today. Strong and potentially damaging gusts of wind to affect western parts of Britain as ex-hurricane Ophelia moves into Ireland and then into northern Scotland. Gusts to 80 mph are likely causing some disruptions. Heavy rain to also affect Scotland and Northern Ireland through the day. Much of England and Wales will be fine and dry with some warm sunshine across central, southern and eastern areas. Feeling humid with temperatures well above normal in the south. Highs will range from 13 to 24 Celsius north to south.


It stays very windy into the evening and night with gusts to 70 mph across Scotland and the north of England in the evening. These lessen somewhat through the night to 60 mph. Further spells of rain are likely across Scotland and Northern Ireland. It remains dry across England and Wales. Expect minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 Celsius.


If you are heading abroad much of Europe is quite summery with a good deal of dry weather and above normal temperatures.
