Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 12th October 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Wet over western hills and coasts, breezy for all and drier north and south

Good morning,

A ridge of higher pressure building over the UK and Ireland today. This is going to be bringing a dry day for most of us. There will be some good spells of sunshine developing and it will be feeling milder too.

Cloudier skies through western Scotland and western Ireland where there could be some spots of drizzle at times. That cloud drifts into western Wales and western England through the later part of this afternoon and evening.

More persistent rain into northwest England, western Scotland and western Ireland during this evening, becoming heavy in western Scotland tonight.
