Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Best of the sunshine in the east, showers to the west spreading to other areas, becoming heavy

Good morning,

A fair morning across many parts of the UK and Ireland. Good spells of sunshine especially over central and eastern areas. Further west there could be a few showers on the coasts and hills.

The afternoon sees the showers turning heavier and more persistent in the west for a time. Again it will be coasts and hills that see most of the showers, these passing east as the afternoon progresses. The showers tending to ease from the west as the afternoon moves on with some good spells of sunshine.

Showers tending to fade through the afternoon in Ireland with good spells of sunshine. Increasing cloud in the evening with some rain in the far south of Ireland later in the evening.
