Wet western Scotland & Northern Ireland

Good morning,

A rare gift from the British weather machine - a dry, hot and sunny Bank Holiday Monday!

Extensive sunshine today for most of England & Wales, although high cloud will build across northern areas. Light winds and gentle sea breezes around southern coasts. A fresher south-westerly wind in the north & west of Britain.

A cold front across Scotland & Northern Ireland brings cloud and rain, which will be heaviest and most persistent across the West Highlands, but amounting to very little in east & north-east Scotland. Rain gradually drifts south-east toward the Lake District, arriving here into the evening.

Today's top temperatures will soar toward 28C in east & south-east England, nearer 25C for the Midlands, and slightly cooler near the coasts. Wales & northern England 18 to 23C. Scotland 17 to 20C, warmest east, but just 14C in rain west.

Have a great day.
Garry
