More unsettled
Windy at times

Issued: 0900 Monday 26th June 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

An unsettled week with rain and showers, windy at times too

Conditions are going to be turning much more unsettled through this week as low pressure takes control of the weather across the UK and Ireland. There will be periods of rain and showers, together with strong winds at times. There is uncertainty over where most of the rain will be although everywhere is likely to see some. Feeling cooler as the winds become more northerly.

Thursday 29/6/17
Low pressure remains over the UK and Ireland on Thursday. Periods of rain, some heavy is likely to be affecting much of England, Wales and Ireland. It is difficult to pinpoint where the most persistent rain will be at this stage. Probably drier in Scotland with some sunshine in the west, although cloud and drizzle may affect the east where it will be breezier too. Chilly for most with highs at 13 to 19C.

Friday 30/6/17
Low pressure drifts to the east on Friday. A northerly flow is going to be chilly for all. Rain may affect much of England and Wales although once again the exact positioning of the rain is uncertain. Drier in Scotland and Ireland and windy too with some brighter spells here. Eastern coasts of Scotland will have some drizzle at times. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Saturday 1/7/17
The flow tuns more westerly on Saturday with low pressure to the north and high pressure to the south. Fronts pass eastwards taking outbreaks of rain with them, most affecting Scotland and Ireland. Tending to be drier and brighter to the south. Highs at 21C in southeast England, 14 to 16C elsewhere.

Sunday 2/7/17
Fronts may pass east on Sunday taking some showery bursts of rain with them. Drier weather follows from the west as a ridge of high pressure builds, the best of the sunshine across Ireland. Highs around 13 to 21C.

Monday 3/7/17
A weak ridge of high pressure may bring a fair day in the east and south with sunny spells. More cloud across Ireland and Scotland with the risk of rain here. Highs at 16 to 22C.

Tuesday 4/7/17
Lower pressure could again bring some rain to many on Tuesday although there is much uncertainty in the detail. Highs at 15 to 22C.
