Morning Call - May 16, 2017
Rain in south
Sowers north & west

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 16th May 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Extensive cloud and outbreaks of rain passing east with brighter weather to the west

Good morning,

There's a lot of cloud across the UK and Ireland today. The southwest wind is feeding moist air from the Atlantic across all areas. A front extends through northern England and into Wales and southwest England and this front is giving rain. The rain may be heavy at times over windward facing hills and coasts.

The southeast of England may see some brighter weather this morning and it could be warm in the sunshine here. However, as the rain spreads into the Midlands and southern England this afternoon, so cloud pushes through the southeast with patchy rain later.

Mostly cloudy in Scotland and Ireland as a band of showery rain passes eastwards in the morning and early afternoon. Much brighter weather then follows from the west bringing good spells of sunshine as it turns dry.
