Morning Call - August 16, 2017
Rain in west
Fair to east

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 16th August 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Plenty of sunny spells in the east, but cloudier with rain in the west

Good morning,

It's a fine start to the day in most areas. Good spells of sunshine, the best of them in central and eastern areas. Feeling warm in the sunshine too.

Thicker cloud already affecting western parts and this is bringing some patchy rain into Ireland. The rain will be edging eastwards through the morning, reaching western Scotland and western Wales as well as the far southwest of England this morning. It then passes through the rest of Scotland, Cumbria, western Wales and Cornwall this afternoon. Becoming breezier too. Most eastern and southern areas staying dry with sunny spells, although the sunshine turning hazy. Patchy rain into the Midlands by late this afternoon.

Watch for heavier and more persistent rain tonight, especially in central, southern and eastern England, some of this being thundery.
