Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 12th December 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cold start, a dry morning but rain in the west later

Good morning,

A severe frost and lots of ice this morning. Most areas are going to be dry with lots of sunshine affecting most areas. It is likely to be dry overall although an odd shower may affect coasts of East Anglia. Increasing cloud in the west of Ireland with rain arriving here through this morning.

The rain will be spreading steadily eastwards through the course of the day. Rain arrives in western Scotland, western Wales and western England through this afternoon with some sleet or snow on the hills at first. Winds increasing this afternoon as well. Eastern areas will be dry in the afternoon.

Milder air and drier conditions should arrive in Ireland tonight, this spreading east ito the Uk with rain clearing east. More showers and rain as well as winder weather arriving in Ireland later.
