Early rain in east

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 17th August 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Early rain clears east, sunny spells follow with some heavy showers in the west

Good morning,

Rain will be affecting East Anglia and southeast England at first today, some of this heavy in places. Showers will be blowing into western Scotland and western Ireland, some of them heavy, whilst other areas should be dry and bright with some decent spells of sunshine.

This afternoon sees a scattering of showers in England, Wales and eastern Scotland. Western parts of Scotland and western Ireland see heavier showers and these may merge into longer spells of rain at times.

More persistent rain will fall in Scotland, northwest England and Northern Ireland overnight and it will be windy here too.
