Morning Call - March 16, 2018
Unsettled
Turning Colder

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 16th March 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Unsettled weather dominates to end the working week with rain and showers for many, windy in the north and east and turning colder too

Good morning,

It's an unsettled start to Friday with rain and showers across many central and northern areas of the British Isles, with some sleet and snow across the hills of Scotland. It is, however, drier across more central and south-western areas of England and Wales, with some sunny spells but also with some scattered showers too.

Through the afternoon and rain and showers will persist across parts of northern and eastern areas of Scotland and down into N England with some further sleet or snow possible on hills. It will also be very windy here too with a fresh or strong SE'ly wind and feeling cold. Conditions further south and west will, overall, be better some scattered showers are possible but with plenty of dry and bright weather too.

Into Friday evening and overnight and some showers are possible across SW England, while the mixture of rain, sleet and some hill snow across Scotland and N England, slowly moves west and south-westwards overnight while dying away and with then all areas entering into a colder period of weather as winds become east or south-easterly overnight and into early Saturday.
