Wet and cold north
Fair and dry south

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 4th October 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Wet, windy and cold in the north although drier and brighter to the south

Good morning,

A cold day ahead across northern parts of Ireland, northern England and the southern and western parts of Scotland. The rain is likely to be heavy at times with a risk of local flooding in Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland and parts of northwest England. Drier for northern Scotland with sunny spells and staying breezy in the northern half of the UK and Ireland too.

Southern Ireland, Wales and southern England should be dry with some bright or sunny spells. Some rain affects northern Wales through this afternoon and this is likely to be turning heavier into the late afternoon and evening as the wind picks up.

Wet for many tonight as rain passes east and south with strong winds and heavy showers following from the north.
