The unsettled weather continues although a brief window of better weather this weekend

The unsettled weather continues through the coming week. There is the briefest of weather windows this weekend when for many it should be dry. However, low pressure returns next wek bringing wind and rain with a tendency to be most unsettled towards the end of the week.

Sunday 13/8/17
A ridge of high pressure building through all areas on Sunday. This is going to be bringing a fair day with good spells of sunshine although some cloud may bubble up in the middle of the afternoon. A few spots of drizzle may affect the far northwest of Scotland and western Ireland in the afternoon. Cloud increases in southwest England later in the day. Highs at 15 to 24C.

Monday 14/8/17
Thundery outbreaks of rain in Ireland, western Scotland, Wales and western England as well through Monday as a trough edges eastwards. Most of the rest England as well as eastern Scotland starting the day dry although thundery showers developing later due to the building warmth. Highs at 17 in the north and west but up to 25C in southeast England.
 

Tuesday 15/8/17
An area of low pressure drifting through the UK on Tuesday taking some thundery outbreaks of rain with it. Becoming fresher and brighter from the west with a mix of sunshine and showers, some of them heavy. Rain may last in eastern areas until the afternoon. Cool in the north and west at 14 to 17C, milder to the east and south at 21 to 24C.
 

Wednesday 16/8/17
A weak ridge of high pressure is expected to be building through the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. This should bring a period of drier weather with sunny spells for a time, although rain arriving in the west and spreading quickly east. Highs at 16 to 23C.

Thursday 17/8/17
Rain spreads east through Thursday. Plenty of cloud for all with the most persistent rain affecting western coasts and hills. Highs near 16 to 22C.

Friday 18/8/17
Conditions are expected to be staying unsettled through Friday. Wind and rain affecting all areas, most in the west. Highs at 14 to 20C.
