Drier overall into the weekend although still some rain, then more unsettled next week

A better couple of days to end this week as a ridge of high pressure builds bringing milder temperatures and drier conditions. There will be rain passing east through the later part of Friday and Saturday, but then the weekend should be mostly dry with sunny spells. Some thundery rain arrives in western areas early in the new week with conditions then turning more unsettled again.

Saturday 12/8/17
A front clearing southeastern parts of the UK on Saturday morning taking showery periods of rain with it. Brighter and drier elsewhere with good spells of sunshine. There is a risk of a shower over high ground but for most it should be staying dry. Temperatures rising to 15 to 24C.


Sunday 13/8/17
A ridge of high pressure builds through Sunday. This is going to be giving a dry day for most with good spells of sunshine. There is a risk of a shower over high ground although these will be scattered. Highs at 16 to 25C.

 
 
 


Monday 14/8/17
Thundery outbreaks of rain in Ireland, western Scotland and the west of Wales through Monday as a trough edges eastwards. Most of the rest of Wales and England as well as eastern Scotland starting the day dry although a risk of thundery showers developing later due to the building warmth. Highs at 18 in the north and west but up to 27C in southeast England.
 


Tuesday 15/8/17
An area of low pressure may drift through the UK on Tuesday taking some thundery outbreaks of rain with it. Becoming fresher and brighter from the west with a mix of sunshine and showers, some of them heavy. Cool in the north and west at 14 to 17C, milder to the east and south at 21 to 24C.


Wednesday 16/8/17
A weak ridge of high pressure is expected to be building through the UK and Ireland. his should bring a period of drier weather with sunny spells, although rain arriving in the west. Highs at 16 to 22C.

Thursday 17/8/17
A more unsettled day on Thursday with low pressure bringing cloud and rain as well as stronger winds. The rain could be heavy. Highs at 14 to 21C.
