Ex-tropical storm brings high humidity

A bright and breezy day on Saturday, with showers across northern regions. A former Atlantic hurricane moves toward the British Isles by Sunday into Monday, bringing increasing humidity, a risk of heavy rain to the west & north-west. Next week is uncertain following this system - a brief surge of warmth, then becoming fresher and mainly dry as the week goes on.

Monday 21/08/17
Low pressure toward the west of Britain contains the remnants of a tropical storm bringing very humid air across the country. Details are uncertain, but slow-moving fronts draped across the west & north give a risk of prolonged heavy rain. Central & southern Britain may escape largely dry with some sunshine. The south-west is likely to be murky with coast fog possible. Reaching 25C in the south-east, 23C Midlands, 17C north.

Tuesday 22/08/17
Confidence becomes low into midweek in the wake of the former tropical system. Shallow low pressure is likely to remain close to the British Isles, with residual rain, or areas of showers breaking out within a humid atmosphere. Winds generally light. A lot of cloud, some hazy sun, mainly in the south & south-east, where it may become very warm, up to 27C. Highs 18 to 23C for many.

Wednesday 23/08/17
Much uncertainty continues through midweek. Areas of rain or showers left over from earlier in the week may still affect some northern regions, whilst pressure should slowly build. Southern areas should be dry overall. Winds mostly light. Quite humid in the south, fresher in the north. Highs 17 to 25C.

Thursday 24/08/17
High pressure is likely to build slowly across the country. Many areas dry, and feeling less humid. Chance of local showers. A north to north-westerly breeze. Highs 18 to 23C.

Friday 25/08/17
Most likely staying dry for many as high pressure influences the country. Light winds and a good deal of sunshine. Highs 18 to 23C.

Saturday 26/08/17
Many places may stay dry, although falling pressure may see some rain develop, although details very uncertain. Highs 17 to 22C.
