Limited sunshine on offer this week

As the jet stream across Scotland digs south of Britain, it develops areas of low pressure that run up towards Scotland with their active weather fronts bringing in lots of showers and longer spells of rain. Temperatures will be near normal but become below normal at times and feeling chilly in brisk winds.

Tuesday 27/06/17
A rather cloudy day to come and windy in the far north. We can expect outbreaks of rain for most areas in the morning. In the afternoon this turns more showery and some of the showers will turn out to be heavy. Further spells of rain and heavy showers persist across England and Wales into the evening and the night. Expect high of 16 to 21C.

Wednesday 28/06/17
An area of rain across eastern parts of England clears away this morning. For much of Britain expect a mix of cloud, sunnier spells and occasional showers. Showers fade in the evening while and area of rain may threaten the southern coasts of England late in the night. Expect highs of 17 to 21C.
 

Thursday 29/06/17
A cool and an increasingly breezy day with a risk of moderate to heavy rain across central and southern parts of England. Scattered showers to affect Northern Ireland, western Scotland, Wales and the north west of England. In the evening and night an area of heavier rain may affect the south of England. Look for highs of 15 to 19C.
 

Friday 30/06/17
It continues chilly with the winds from the north east. Rain clears the Midlands this morning but tends to linger across East Anglia and the south east for much of the day. Mainly fair and dry across the rest of Britain with the best of the sunshine across western areas. As the rain clears the south east, much of Britain will be dry overnight. Expect highs of 15 to 19C.

Saturday 01/07/17
Windier today, especially across Wales and the south west. Outbreaks of moderate to heavy rain in the west spread into most places through the day but the rain appears quite light in the south of England. Highs of 14 to 20C.

Sunday 02/07/17
A warmer but breezy, unsettled day expected with some rain across England clearing. An area of heavier rain spreads in across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Expect highs of 16 to 22C.
